Privacy policy

1. Who this covers

This policy covers personal information processed through summit88.co.za (the “Site”), including the contact form and the careers application form. It should be read together with our terms and conditions. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What we collect

Contact form: your name, email address, company name, the service you are interested in, and your message.

Careers form: your name, email address, the role you are interested in, a portfolio or website link, your message, and any CV or résumé you choose to attach.

Technical information: aggregated, non-identifying usage information such as pages viewed, approximate region, device type and referring source. We do not attempt to identify individuals from this data.

We do not ask for, and should not be sent, passwords, payment-card details, special personal information, or confidential client information through these forms.

3. Why we process it

We use contact details to respond to your enquiry, prepare a proposal, and communicate about work you have asked about. We use application details to assess your application and to contact you about it. We use technical information to understand how the Site is used and to keep it working and secure.

Our processing is based on your consent when you submit a form, our legitimate interest in running and improving our business, and, where relevant, steps taken at your request before entering a contract.

4. Who else processes it

We use service providers to operate the Site and handle submissions. These include Resend (email delivery of form submissions), Vercel (hosting and privacy-friendly analytics), and Google Analytics (aggregated site usage). Form submissions are delivered to a Summit88 email inbox.

These providers process information on our instructions and have their own privacy terms. Some may process data outside South Africa; where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards under POPIA. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

5. Cookies and analytics

The Site uses analytics to count visits and understand which pages are useful. This may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the Site will still work, and forms will still be submitted.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while we are in discussion and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can pick up the conversation. Applications are kept for up to 12 months so we can consider you for later roles, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Analytics data is retained in aggregated form according to the provider's retention settings.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You may also object to processing, or withdraw consent you previously gave. Email support@summit88.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable period, subject to verifying your identity and to any legal obligations that require us to keep certain records.

If you believe we have not handled your information lawfully, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

8. Security

We use HTTPS across the Site, restrict access to submissions to the people who need them, and rely on established providers for hosting and email delivery. No system is perfectly secure, and email in particular is not a confidential channel. Please do not send sensitive information through the forms.

9. Children

The Site is intended for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site or our tools change. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
